Everyone Deserves a Second Chance

Yesterday, a colleague here, a funny guy with a fun personality, was struck by a horrible migraine. Seeking respite from noise and light, he sequestered himself in our absent boss's closed office, and took a breather.

Being a thoughtful sort, I only played one practical joke on him, and of short duration. I have a toy, you see, that when pressed, projects the voice of Elrond, saying: "You shall be the Fellowship of the Ring." Very dramatic. Hugo Weaving's voice and all. Well, I buzzed the office the dear lad was resting in, and let Hugo inform my colleague that he would be the Fellowship of the Ring.

I giggled and then let him rest in peace. Maybe half an hour later, he gave up his facade of hopeful recovery and headed home to throw himself into the salve of unconsciousness.

This morning, he says he can't recall leaving the office at all, thinks he may have taken a train home but can't remember, and may have been sick on the train but (thankfully) can't remember. I asked him if he remembered receiving an invitation from Elrond.

He looked at me blankly. Elrond?

I smirked. I will have the joy of playing that particular practical joke twice. For my poor victim can't remember the first time :)

I just LOVE that. It's so rare, a woman gets two practical jokes for the price of one! Everyone deserves a second chance.
